In response to the ideas and notes taken from week 1 lecture.
Architecture to be built?
Joshua Dallas (2011)
The notion of architecture as a tangible entity is a notion that seems to be somewhat questioned with the scope of this unit. Looking at what architecture is in a broader scope and in turn, critiquing and commenting on the actual spaces in which architecture (of this variety) can create, provide and influence our ideas and outcomes. Moving past just inhabitation as a physical act, and to that of the total integration of not only senses, but also the various networks and elements at work within the users lives.
While services somewhat guide and nurture what the spaces can become physically. There is an underpinned idea of flexibility, where one does not necessarily bind said services or notions to one form, space or idea. More-so attribute this service via distribution and emulation through a wide range of spatial, technical and various other service dependant/appropriate methods.
The ability to perceive the service required, attribute the necessary infrastructure and support to its operation, and then manage the utilization and implications of all of the above is essentially what is needed, so basic and complex planning will underpin, and determine, almost all of the decisions in the later process stages.
